Before joining St. Vincent’s Hospital as Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006, Dr. George Mussalli served as Chief of Obstetrics at North Central Bronx Hospital/Jacobi Medical Center. In the Bronx he oversaw the pregnancy of thousands of women in a community with overwhelming rates of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and preterm birth. He also worked extensively with midwives at the hospital, which boasts one of the city’s lowest rates of cesarean section. As a fellow at Columbia University, Dr. Mussalli engaged in bench research on prematurity, publishing on this topic in academic journals such as Obstetrics & Gynecology and The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
