Lenox Hill Hospital
Lenox Hill Hospital is renowned for its exceptional obstetrical service with approximately 4000 deliveries per year. Mothers and their newborns receive special care in the Florence Selwyn Klopfer Family-Centered Maternity Care Unit which consists of 11 modern LDR’s (labor, delivery, and recovery rooms), a postpartum floor with a modified rooming-in system, well baby nurseries, and a Level 111 Neonatal Critical Care Unit which together make the Maternal-Child Health service a Center of Excellence for the hospital. The Hospital established its maternity service in 1933. Since then, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has built a reputation for combining the latest technology for pregnancy and delivery with highly skilled and compassionate care.
Premature infants and those born with special needs receive individualized attention in the Hospital's Neonatal Critical Care Unit, managed by the Department of Pediatrics and offering round-the-clock monitoring and care. The unit, staffed by specially trained physicians and nurses, is located adjacent to the maternity unit. In addition, the Hospital's inpatient pediatric services include a Pediatric Special Care Unit that provides critically ill children of all ages with intensive care and monitoring.
